Cyanine Dyes (Cy Dyes)
Cyanine Dyes are a class of fluorescent dye used for labeling amine groups on antibodies, peptides or oligonucleotides and are suitable for use in a range of applications, including microscopy, flow cytometry and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). Cyanine dyes are characterized by a polymethine bridge linking the nitrogen atoms of two heterocyclic rings and as a result of their structure have high extinction coefficients. The sulfonated cyanine dyes exhibit good water solubility.
