Submit ReviewBCI is an allosteric inhibitor of dual specificity phosphatase DUSP6 and DUSP1 (EC50 values are 8.0 μM and 13.3 μM respectively). Increases P2X7 receptor expression in neuroblastoma cells, reduces cell viability of EGFR or KRAS mutant lung cancer cells, and induces apoptosis in p53-null non-small cell lung cancer cells. In an animal model of myocardial infarction, BCI improves heart function, reduces fibrosis, and reduces inflammation by inhibiting macrophage formation. Activates FGF signaling in zebrafish embryo development to increase myocardial progenitor population and heart size.
