Biological Activity for G418 disulfate salt

G418 disulfate salt is an aminoglycosidic antibiotic. Inhibits protein synthesis in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Used for selection of eukaryotic cells transfected with the neo gene.

G418 was reconstituted in milli-Q water to get a stock solution of 50 mg/ml. The stock was diluted to 250 mcg/ml in DMEM containing 10% FBS, 4 mM glutamine, 10 mM HEPES and puromycin (5 mcg/ml) and used to culture HEK293 cell line, stably expressing hRyR2-IRES-GFP.

Stock solutions should be stored in aliquots at -20°C.
